Having problems with your Refrigerators ?

Frosting up My whirlpool side by side is developing frost and frezing up the evaporator, i have cyled the defrost timer and it remained frosted and the compressor came back on after 40 minutes defrosted evaporator with hair dryer, ran well then frosted agian in 3 days ithink the heater is bad i would like to know where the heater is located where is the heater located. Thanks

Answers :

It is behind the rear cover in the freezer section, you need to remove the freezer shelfs and bins, you will see the screws on the back panel (remove frost from panel) remove the screws and the heater will be a black element that is mounted on the evaperator it will be shaped like a u each end will have a wire connected to it with no power to the machine dissconnect the wires to the heater and with an ohm meter check for resistance if it has resistance then it is good there is a defrost thermastat mounted on the suction line at the top of the evamerator with it still cold and frozen with the meter check this thermastat it should read resistance
\015\012if either of these two parts shoul no resistance the one that does not is bad
\015\012if both show resistance then the defrost timer is the problem

Kitchenaide side by side, model # ksra25fk---freezer too cold (-10 to -15) & fridge side sometimes gets above 48 setting of the "overtemp" alarm. I ran the internal diagnostics test and everything checks out ok except during the air baffle test the baffles open and close, but the evaporator fan does not run. However, the evaporator fan runs during test 03 for the evaporator fan motor. I dismantled the back panel of the freezer--there is no frost buildup and the defrost coil heats properly. Both

You said it yourself, the 'air door' or baffles as you called them aren't not opening up to let some air out of the freezer, into the fridge. That's why the freezer sis so cold and the fridge is warm. The door is controlled by a thermistor. You will ... Refrigerators

The freezer side of my built-in side by side Jenn-Air refrigerator (JS48FSFXDA) is having the following problem: during the defrost cycle, water is dripping from the ceiling of the freezer onto door shelves/baskets and elevator shelves and forming a coat of ice. From what I can see, it looks like the glass defrost heaters are working fine and melting the frost off the evaporator but the water overflows out of the drip pan and rains down on the shelves. I removed the evaporator drip pan hoping to

The defrost thermistor is your problem: it is going low (turning off) the defrost circuit far too quickly; it is a solid state version of a gas filled cold control sensor. It "tells" the adaptive defrost controller circuit board the condition: ( ... Jenn-Air JSD2789GES Side by Side Refrigerator

Hi there. My GE GSL25JFPD side by side has major issues. The evaporator has completely frozen over. We called a technician twice. The first time he replaced the main electrical board. This fix lasted about 2 months before we had the same problem again. The tech came out again and tested various parts..All came back with normal readings so he replaced the main board again. Now, only 1 week later, we have the same frozen evaporator coils. I removed the panel, used a hair dryer to defrost to at lea

Side by side refrigerator stopped cooling. Temp was 55 degrees in fridge when I noticed. Vacuumed back and between coils underneath. Removed lining in freezer and melted heavy frost and ice build-up with hair dryer. Temp went back to normal for almost 2 days, then temp began climbing in fridge again. Replaced thermostat per youtube video (desperate finances forced me to try this). This was just last night, this morning I see frost build-up on coils and themostat, wires, etc. Is a little b

It is a frost free refridgerator, but it frosts up and the refridgerator part doesn't cool as well. I printed out the KF24 pictoral diagram and had to draw a ladder diagram for our HVAC training course in order to troubleshoot the system in the lab. In trying to rectify the Evaporator Defrost heater circuit to the pictoral I ran into two problems. First, assuming that white was the power wire, I drew the heater circuit backwards (controls were on the assumed "neutral" side), but they were controlling the heating circuit while leaving the Drain tube heater energized all the time (that is the

The evaportor coil in my side by side fridge keeps freezing up. I use the hair dryer to melt the frost off it. This happens about every 48 hours.

My GE TFX26GRDA side-by-side refrigerator periodically freezes up the coils so completely that no air circulates and the fresh food compartment gets WAY too warm. It does this over a period of anywhere between 4-12 months and has been happening since the unit was new. I just finished defrosting the coils with a hair dryer yet again. The defrost thermostat gave a resistance reading of about .5 ohm while frozen in ice; that is supposed to be normal. The heater coil works at least part of the time
