About 13 years old. Water drips from the top of the refrigerator compartment (under the freezer) and collects in the bottom of the unit (under the crispers). Freezer works fine, temp in fridge is fine. I assume that some defrost drain tube is plugged. We are moving in the next day or two. Is this inexpensively fixable, or should I leave the unit where it is?

I thinkyou just need to take a look at replacing the defrost timer. Sounds to me as if the defrost timer is malfunctioning. It's an inexpensive part considering the cost of replacing an burned out unit or even a reapirman bill. Check into that fir ...
Sub-Zero Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
I printed out the KF24 pictoral diagram and had to draw a ladder diagram for our HVAC training course in order to troubleshoot the system in the lab. In trying to rectify the Evaporator Defrost heater circuit to the pictoral I ran into two problems. First, assuming that white was the power wire, I drew the heater circuit backwards (controls were on the assumed "neutral" side), but they were controlling the heating circuit while leaving the Drain tube heater energized all the time (that is the
First try putting controls in series with loads. Remember, loads consume power and switches pass power. Start here. If I had a copy of your drawings, I'd be in a better position to address your situation. ...

Ice was building up in the lower freezer and water was running down on top of the ice and out of the freezer and on to the floor. I assumed it was a plugged drain not allowing the water to go out and then causing it to refreeze. I cleaned the drain tube, but now, a few days later, I see ice building up again. It is not leaking, but I think in time it will. What else can I check. Is it possible that the freezer is somehow keeping itself too cool and freezing the water (from the defrost cycle) bef
Look around the door to make sure you have a perfect seal, cos air leaks will cause frost to build up.also make sure the unit is level all round(use a spirit level)helps doors to seal properly. ...

I have a GE Monogram model #ZISW42 side by side, with the cooling unit on top.
In the last couple of days the fridge won't cool below 42 deg.
The freezer makes ice, so I believe the freezer is 0 deg.
After removing the styrofoam baffle, on the top front, where the flap diverter is, I get a temp reading of approximately 21 deg.
The unit goes through the defrost cycle (35 min. each 10 hrs.)
I notice the tube that runs under the drain pan is a lot hotter on the compressor side, than on the ev

My Kenmore upright refrigerator-freezer, Model 55771, leaks water ocassionally out the left hand lower front corner of the freezer compartment as you face the doors. I already changed out the heating coils in the back of the freezer compartment that deice the cooling coils. A layer of ice forms on the bottom of the freezer, so I assume that things aren't draining properly during the defrosting cycle. The problem is so persistent that it has warped the plywood under the floor tiles. The unit

I have an old , perhaps 15 years old, hotpoint refrigerator with a top freezer. Defrost water runs down the inside back of the refrig compartment. It appears that the unit is designed for the water to run down this way. Is that possible or is there a drain tube that I have not yet found?
Yes sir. take that whole freezer compartment apart. bottom, back, all that good stuff. you will see the hose. ...
Defrost drainage During defrost cycle, the water flows into the bottom of the freezerinstead of the drain pan under the unit. Looks like the line (as seen from the front of the freezer box) is frozen. Wonder if this unit drain line is heated by some sort of a electrical wire during defrost cycle. If so, could I replace it or is it complicated and requires a service person?
Very simple to fix. Remove freezer panel at the back of the freezer. Thaw collector pan at the bottom of freezer in the back. Make sure hole in pan is also thawed and cleaned. You may have to remove the panel on the back of the refrigerator to clean ...
The drain line in the freezer freezes up. ever time the freezer goes into defrost the tray under the coils fills up and eventualy over flows into the frige. I have to turn off the unit and let the ice melt in the freezer and the drain line. once its drain the water out I pour hot water into the drain line to make sure it drains into the pan in the bottom of the unit. I have fished a wire into the drain line till it comes out in the bottom pan to make sre something isnot clogging the line.. I ha

GE Monogram ZIS36 Side by Side refrigerator built-in about 15 years old. Defrost problem.
Freezing compartment has ice running down the sides. Both refrigerator and freezer work fine. I have cleared the drain tube of debris and cleaned condenser. Problem persists.
Do I replace:
1. Defrost Control
2. Drain Trough Heater
3. Defrost Heater
4. Defrost Thermostat
It seems as if the Defrost Heater is working fine, otherwise the icicles would not be running down sides of freezer and e
I have a GE GTH22KBRARWW refrigerator/freezer. The freezer has stopped working. I have pulled the back panel off of the freezer, and the chilling unit is free of frost. The condensate drain is completely clear. The fan works fine, but the cooler unit just doesn't seem to get cold. All of our frozen goods are defrosted. The unit does not have an ice maker.
I've been given some tips to check the defrost timer and the thermostat, but I need advice on how to find these and test them. Can enyone h
Most likely it isn't the defrost timer since you have no frost buildup. I think you are looking at a bad thermostat. The thermostat is the dial that you can set the freezer temperature with. Basically if you set it to it's coldest setting and it does ...

I have a GE refrigerator, Model GSH25KGMC The coils in the freezer side are freezing up and the refrigerator side is getting warm. I have replaced the defrost unit on the freezer (glass tube unit at the bottom of the coils)one time and the freezer/refrigerator worked great for a month. I have an Amana TZX21Q2W Referidgerator/Freezer on Top. I have a freezer drain tube that is clogged (probably blocked by ice.) I have the back panel off the freezer and can see the fan/condensor unit but I cannot see the tray and drain opening. I can see where the tube passes thru the ceiling of the refridgerator but cannot find the drain opening in the freezer. Any help would be appreceated.
Double check your model number because TZX21Q2W does not come up. With the freezer panel off use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner if needed and if you pour warm water and some clorox you will find where the drain is. The only two places it ...
This is the real model number for my unit. It turns out the tube on the back of the unit is the supply line for the ice maker. I found a more rigid tube running from the bottom of the freezer (lower unit) and flushed it. It flushed easily.
I disconnected the defrost timer and jumped the yellow to black. The yellow wire looks as if it powers a heater or some sort of capacitor. Nonetheless, crossing the yellow to black causes the fans to run, then something click
I can't tell what your symptoms are from your post but the rigid hose was the defrost drain hose. It doesn't affect cooling. You seem to have a defrost problem since you mentioned the defrost parts so here is an explanation which may help. ...

Hello, I have a GE Profile model pss26ngsc, My problem is that the freezer seems to be going through a defrost cycle every day. this is causing a lot of moisture to build up in the freezer, the temp rises up to 10 degrees. The freezer then cools and the inside is cover in frost, the next day it starts over again. I removed the panel to expose the evaporator, found the seals around the panel where the heating tube is burnt. the heating tube is opaque. the is a frost covering the unit evap unit. Q

I have a samsung cooltech SR 44RMB and water is leaking into fridge from vent located on under side of freezer unit. i read it might be drain to compresar tray clogged, in that case do i need to defrost for so long (48hs) or can i just run a wire up the drain pipe or use a blow dryer to defrost that pipe? thanks
The defrost drain is clogged. Usually high humidity will cause the drain to freeze up. The fix is easy and free, but it is timely. You must unplug the fridge for 36 hours with both doors open to let the drain thaw naturally. No heat should be used to ...
The drain for the defroster is frozen and probably dirty. Any ideas? We are allowing it to defrost now, after removing all the ice from the bottom of the freezer. We made a mistake and squirted water into the vents from the refrigerator unit. We have done this before and it lasted only a week or two, so the drain pipe must be dirty.
The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube t ...
Westinghouse freestye model RP423Q has water accumulating in the bottom of the fridge, from the drain tube at the back of the inside of the unit. Water isn't draining to the external part of the unit.
It is defrosting but ice forms at the top of the drain tube and the water runs down to the bottom of the freezer and piles ice up. The drain tube is not stopped up. This is the third time I've thawed it out. I can't figure this one out.
Use an ALUMINUM or COPPER solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) ...
